The History of Misamis Occidental National High School

Misamis Occidental National High School is a great, child-friendly, clean, green and eco-friendly environment. Many students are inspired to come to this school because of it's high-quality education.
This school began its operation in June 1938 in a rented old Enerio building at the corner of Rizal and Barrientos Street, near the mouth of the Layawan River. Its first year in 1939-1940, only the first and second year were opened. The Misamis Occidental National High School answers the needs of the 47 barangays of Oroquieta City at its nearby provinces for the 79 years. And the operation temporarily suspended because the World War II outbreak. After the war, classes were resumed with an enrollment of 798 students.
In 1947, the main building was constructed at the present site, bounded with the Capitol Drive, P. Villarin St. and Osilao St., in Barangay Poblacion I. The Misamis Occidental High School became a National High School in 1970 through the efforts and benevolence of our leaders in the Provinces and Congress. After the earthquake in 1976 the old building was reconstructed in 1979. The JICA (Japan International Cooperative Assistance) buildings were completed with one Science Laboratory and three classrooms in 1996.
Misamis Occidental National High School has always stood firm to its commitment to develop CHARACTER, LABOR and SCHOLARSHIP. Its graduates who have established names in their respective fields of endeavor are living proofs of the commitment and dedication of the host of men and women in the service, yesterday and today. Indeed, Misamis Occidental National High School is a school we can be proud of. It benefits not only the youth but the rest of the community!

Misamis Occidental National High School Facilities

The Misamis Occidental National High School has many school facilities; Computer room, Library, Music room, Theater Arts room, Media Arts room, Bakery, Canteen and sewing room.
Computer room is one of the useful facilities in this school. Because it helps us to answer our homeworks but we don't always rely on the internet. The library on the other hand is also useful, because the books in the library contains reliable information.
Music room is where we can find instruments and it is where the Special Program in the Arts or SPA students learn or practice how to use instruments. Theater Arts room is where the students improve their acting skills. Media Arts room is where the students make an amazing movies.
The Bakery contains many delicious pastries and breads and they sell it. Canteen is one of the most visited facilities in the school. And the sewing room is where you can find the most beautiful, wonderful and artistic gowns and dresses.

What are these programs? Why are these programs implemented? What can we benefit from this programs? Why are these programs important? Can these programs help the student?
STEM, SPA, BEC, SPS, SHS and SPED are the programs that Misamis Occidental National High School offers. These programs are important because the skills and abilities of the students can be enhance or develop with the help of these programs. Of course the students will actually benefit on this programs because as what I have said with these programs the skills of the students will be enhance or develop it may be in sports, arts or either in academics. Lastly the programs can help your child to be responsible on his/her studies.
As a student who is a beneficiary of the programs it can help us to gain or enhance those skills. We believed in these saying "EDUCATION IS THE KEY TO SUCCESS" if you give your best and mix it with hardwork and courage surely you'll be a better person in the future and also whatever programs you are now, it can always help you to be a responsible, friendly and also to have courage. So choose Misamis Occidental National High School so that we can assure the future of your child.

The Buildings of Misamis Occidental National High School

The Building was donated by Mr. Zhuang Yong Quan. This Building was donated in 1938 before the World War II then this building was reconstructed by the government of Misamis Occidental. This building is being occupied now by the Misamis Occidental National High School Grade 7 STEM students.
This building was donated by the Government of Japan. This building was donated in 1996. This building has been occupied now by the Grade 8, 9 and 10 STEM students of the Misamis Occidental National High School. They call this building as JICA.
There is an ongoing building construction here on Misamis Occidental National High School that is intended for the Senior High School of Misamis Occidental National High School.
